In front of a captivated Eden crowd, Virat Kohli struck a record-tying 49th ODI century and combined with Shreyas Iyer for 134 runs as India amassed 326 runs against South Africa. In this match against South Africa on Sunday, Virat Kohli achieved three figures, matching Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 one-day international hundreds.
On his 35th birthday, Kohli reached the milestone at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens in 119 balls, 10 of which were fours. In keeping with his high-risk style, Rohit Sharma gave India a great start in this World Cup match once again. But South Africa got the better of the hosts by dismissing both the captain and his opening partner, Shubhman Gill.

Despite Rohit’s quick-fire forty runs and his opening partnership of 62 runs with Shubman Gill, the Proteas forced them to settle for 105 for two after 15 overs. At the iconic Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata, Rohit Sharma chose to bat first after winning the toss.
India did not alter their lineup; however, the Proteas altered their starting XI by one. It appears that Eden Gardens may have a dry surface because Bavuma chose to play one additional spinner in the side. This edition of the ODI World Cup has proven to be one of the best for the Indian team. They have won all of their matches till now, courtesy of their brilliant batting and bowling performances.
